Cold Brew Coffee is coffee brewed using room temperature or cold water and a long soak time. This process is extremely simple and produces a flavorful and highly caffeinated coffee.
There are only three steps to making cold brew:
- Combine ground coffee with room temperature water in some kind of container like a mason jar and allow it to soak for at least 12 hours. You can also use cold water and let the brew soak in the fridge (increase brew time to 16 hours).
- Filter out the coffee grounds using cheese cloth or a paper filter.
- Get your mason jar back out and give it a rinse. Then pour the filtered and finished coffee back in. Toss that puppy in the fridge and enjoy whenever. Your homemade cold brew should stay fresh in the fridge for up to two weeks.
The benefits of cold brew are somewhat similar to the benefits of Brojo Coffee. The lack of hot water means less oxidation and fatty acids. Cold brew coffee is also convenient (except for the initial brew time) and highly versatile. Having a bottle of cold brew in your fridge can legit be life changing. On Cold days, try diluting it with hot water. Make iced coffee on Summer days by adding ice cubes or even a blender to make one of those coffee milkshakes.
